Shokz has launched the OpenDots 2, a new pair of clip-on earbuds that bring Bluetooth 6.1 and bone-conduction microphones. The upgrade matters for users who want better call clarity and a more stable wireless connection in an open-ear design.
Dual drivers and six microphones enhance audio quality
The OpenDots 2 are the latest in Shokz's lineup of open-ear audio devices. They clip onto the ear rather than inserting into the ear canal, making them suitable for all-day wear and situational awareness.
Specifications
- Bluetooth version: 6.1
- Driver size: Dual 11.8mm drivers (works as one 16mm driver)
- Microphone count: 6 (3 per earbud, including 2 bone-conduction mics)
- Battery life: 10 hours (earbuds), 40 hours (with case)
- Charging: USB-C wired and Qi wireless
Key specs include dual 11.8mm drivers that Shokz says work together as a single 16mm driver. The company claims this Bassphere 2.0 setup cuts distortion by 70% compared to the previous generation.
Each earbud packs three microphones, with two of them being bone-conduction mics for voice pickup. Battery life reaches up to 10 hours on a single charge, and the charging case extends that to 40 hours total. The case supports USB-C wired charging and Qi wireless charging, and a five-minute charge provides two hours of playback. The earbuds carry an IP57 water resistance rating, while the case is rated IP54.
The OpenDots 2 are available now in Pearl White, Grey, and Black. Pricing is set at 199.95 USD (about $200).
Shokz is known for its bone-conduction headphones, and the OpenDots 2 continue that focus on open-ear audio. The addition of Bluetooth 6.1 and improved microphones positions them as a step up from earlier models.
The OpenDots 2 offer a confirmed set of features: Bluetooth 6.1, dual drivers, six microphones with bone-conduction mics, 10-hour battery life, and IP57-rated earbuds. They are available now for $199.95.
